New Internship/Apprenticeship Program in Insurance

NAIP’s new Internship/Apprenticeship program will help introduce more young people to the many career and entrepreneurial opportunities in insurance and provide them with the professional licensure and credentialing and hands-on training that can lead to career opportunities in the industry.

 

Step 1, Orientation: The program begins with an orientation period geared toward creating the big picture. Participants will learn basic insurance concepts, be exposed to the many careers and entrepreneurial opportunities in the insurance industry and undergo career assessments to help determine which career path in insurance best fits their short and long-term goals.

 

Step 2, Licensing & Credentialing:  Anyone involved in the counseling, solicitation, selling, or negotiation of insurance or financial services must have a State issued license.  Step 2 provides classroom training and administrative assistance towards earning the following professional licenses:

 

  1. Property and Casualty (Insurance)

  2. Life, Accident, and Health (Insurance)

 

On an as-needed basis, participants can receive additional support in the following areas: critical thinking, computer literacy, interpersonal skills, ethics, integrity, dependability, and time management.

 

Step 3, On-the-Job Training In a controlled and supportive environment, newly licensed participants will learn to:

 

  • Build customer loyalty, create effective first impressions, manage customer expectations

  • Process incoming and outgoing calls to clients, and insurance companies

  • Design coverages to fit the individual clients risk exposure

  • Quote auto, homeowners, business, life, and health insurance products

  • Use social media tools to educate consumers about the importance of insurance

  • Conduct market research, gather consumer behavior data,  design marketing materials, prepare and deliver sales and literacy presentations

 

Participant knowledge will be evaluated monthly and merit increases are earned for mastery of key competencies.

Step 4, Employment: Program graduates can: 

  • Work in customer service, sales and marketing, and claims support and can specialize in (1) property and casualty insurance, (2) life, accident, and health insurance and/or (3) benefits and retirement planning.

  • Work-from-home. 

  • Pursue uncapped earning potential through entrepreneurship.
